The Author Of Numerous Works Of Fiction And Nonfiction, Including The Much Celebrated "Desert Solitaire", Which Decried The Waste Of America's Wilderness, Abbey Was One Of The Country's Foremost Defenders Of The Natural Environment. He Died In 1989.
