The Author Of Numerous Works Of Fiction And Nonfiction, Including The Much Celebrated "Desert Solitaire", Which Decried The Waste Of America's Wilderness, Abbey Was One Of The Country's Foremost Defenders Of The Natural Environment. He Died In 1989.

Buck Abbey, Asla, Is Associate Professor Of Landscape Architecture At Louisiana State University And A Recognized Authority On Municipal Landscape Ordinances And Site Planning Law. He Is Also President Of Abbey Associates, Inc., A Private Landscape Architecture And Planning Firm With Offices In Baton Rouge And New Orleans, Louisiana. He Was A Founding Member And On The Board Of Directors Of The Louisiana Chapter Of The American Society Of Landscape Architects.
